3 Stages of Would Healing
When human skin tissue is damaged for any cause, immediate reactions to heal the wound are followed in 3 stages. Regardless of wound healing type, it occurs in all wounds. Reaction per each stage looks as follows
1. Inflammation StageOnce the wound is created, in order to remove bacteria, foreign substance, necrosis tissues, cells (Platelet, White blood cells, Macrophage, etc.) in the damaged blood vessels near the wound are activated. Also, to stimulate skin cells near the wound, various active substances are secreted from these cells.
2. Proliferation StageIn this stage, cytoplasm and cell substrates are proliferated, mostly synthesizing collagen.
3. Maturation StageThis stage is to balance between production and decomposition of scar tissue, formed across the steps of epithelialization and proliferation. It lasts for several months to years. These reactions do not occur one by one. Instead, they go through a series of steps overlapped without clear distinction.
Applicable Wound Types
Surgical WoundIncised wound for surgery
Cutsa skin cut from objects with sharp edges (knife, glass, broken pieces, etc.)
Laceration a wound caused by skin tearing external powers
Closure Types
Needle, threadIt is a suturing type for both deep and shallow wounds, which is most widely used. However, additional removal procedures are required while scars and pains are accompanied due to its invasive method of suturing, along with risks of infection.
TapeIt is suitable for light closure of wounds, with no occurrence of additional scars during closure procedure. But it’s not possible to apply disinfection for this type.
StaplesIt is suitable for long-length wounds as this type can quickly close wounds. However, additional removal procedures are required while scars and pains are accompanied due to its invasive method of suturing, along with risks of infection.
BondThis type can minimize stimulus on skin tissue, but power to close the skin is quite weak and can cause allergies.
Minimize risks of infection, Medical Suture Retainer with no scars and pains
It minimizes stimulus on skin tissue. As a non-invasive method, no scars and pains follow. Lowered risks of infections. Flexibility of Hydrocolloid can make it possible to use on the wound closure that needs increased strength.
